The Scarinci Hollenbeck Scholarship Is the First to Initiate a Diverse LGBT Scholarship Opportunity

Lyndhurst, N.J., June 11, 2014 – New Jersey-based law firm Scarinci Hollenbeck is proud to announce that Ryann Aaron of Rutgers School of Law is the May 2014 recipient of its annual, statewide LGBT scholarship. Sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, this unique program serves to encourage and promote diversity in the legal profession and to advance the legal studies of those interested in the New Jersey LGBT community.

The Foundation’s Scholarship Committee meets in early May to consider the applications submitted and to select a recipient. Ryann Aaron, a rising second-year law student, received this year’s scholarship award based on his demonstrated, meaningful interest in the development and advancement of diversity. Aaron commented, “The Scarinci Hollenbeck Scholarship not only helps me to support a cause that I firmly believe in, but it has also allowed me to discover and explore my diversity potential and my personal mission for the LGBT community.”

The Scarinci Hollenbeck Scholarship is one of the first committed to the advancement of LGBT legal issues within the state. It is open to law students who share in and demonstrate Scarinci Hollenbeck’s profound dedication to and support of LGBT issues. Applicants need not be members of the LGBT community. Rather, this exclusive scholarship opportunity is made available to law students interested in promoting equal status for LGBT studies.

Scarinci Hollenbeck has always been a place of inclusion for LGBT attorneys and staff, and its attorneys have worked on important LGBT pro bono issues, including marriage equality. Scarinci Hollenbeck seeks to further enhance and extend its commitment to diversity through the Scarinci Hollenbeck Scholarship. “We are pleased that Scarinci Hollenbeck selected the New Jersey State Bar Foundation to introduce the only statewide and diversely unique LGBT scholarship open to any interested law student candidates,” said Louis Miron, president of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation.

Applications can be found at the beginning of each second semester in the financial aid office at any New Jersey law school, or by visiting the New Jersey Bar Association website at http://www.njsbf.org/foundation/funding-opportunities/law-school-scholarship.html.
