On September 17, 2014, the New Jersey Division of Taxation announced a special initiative whereby businesses and individuals with unpaid tax liabilities could avoid some penalties, costs of collection and recovery fees.
The program ends on November 17, 2014
Taxpayers would be required to pay all of the tax and interest. All penalties would be waived except for the Amnesty Penalty under the 2009 Tax Amnesty Law enacted by the legislature. That penalty was imposed by statute on taxpayers who did not avail themselves of the 2009 amnesty program.
Taxpayers should determine the amount of tax and interest owed and compare that sum to their available cash. Please contact this firm if you need assistance in this regard.
All taxpayers may not be able to take advantage of this program; however, it is worthwhile for every taxpayer with an unpaid liability to the State of New Jersey to investigate the potential of the Special Initiate for resolving unpaid tax debts.
