201-896-4100 info@sh-law.comLyndhurst, NJ, April 24, 2013 – Scarinci Hollenbeck welcomes a new attorney and partner, Fernando M. Pinguelo, to the firm. Pinguelo will take on the prestigious and demanding roles as Chair of the firm’s Cyber Security & Data Protection Group as well as its Electronic Discovery group.
Pinguelo has extensive experience as a trial attorney, and has garnered a national and international reputation as one of the pioneers of the emerging practices of cyber law and electronic discovery (eDiscovery). Cyber crimes remain one of the most serious and increasing threats to businesses and individuals alike. Pinguelo’s oversight of Scarinci Hollenbeck’s Cyber Security & Data Protection group will help continue to cultivate the practice, enabling the firm to provide leading data breach prevention programs and response solutions to today’s most pressing data and privacy issues. Most recently, Pinguelo addressed the Brazilian Escola Paulista da Magistratura and provided the São Paulo state court judiciary with an executive summary on U.S. President Barack Obama’s February 12, 2013 Executive Order on Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity.
Pinguelo also has unparalleled knowledge in the eDiscovery field, and was involved in New Jersey’s first case addressing the new eDiscovery rule amendments. He lectures nationally and internationally on e-discovery issues, including for the Judicial College. His integral role in the sector led to him receiving the only Fulbright Specialist appointment for e-discovery by the U.S. government’s flagship international exchange program.
Additionally, Pinguelo has been widely recognized by his peers and clients alike for the results he’s achieved on behalf of his clients, obtaining Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating since 2011, currently its highest rating assigned to attorneys. The honor demonstrates Pinguelo’s adherence to the highest ethical standards, legal expertise and analytical capabilities. Several local, national, and international syndications have bestowed awards on or otherwise profiled Pinguelo for his work, including Law Technology News which identified him as one of the few U.S.-based attorneys with advanced experience in managing privacy and security issues.
Pinguelo is admitted to practice law before the bars of New Jersey, New York, District of Columbia, U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals of the Second, Third, and Federal Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York. In addition to his bar admissions, Pinguelo is professionally affiliated with the Fulbright International Exchange Program, New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Evidence, and the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Fernando’s numerous published book chapters and articles in his areas of practice reflect the depth of his knowledge and understanding of the issues that his clients face, from both business and legal perspectives. He is also the founder of the ABA Journal award-winning blog eLessons Learned – Where Law, Technology & Human Error Collide (www.eLLblog.com) and its companion blog eWhite House Watch – Where Law, Technology & Politics Collide (www.eWHWblog.com).
Pinguelo was born in Newark, New Jersey, raised in Kearny, New Jersey and is currently a resident of Monmouth County.
