On Saturday, October 12, 2024, join author, attorney, and Constitutional scholar Donald Scarinci for a special event commemorating the life and legacy of David Brearley—Signer of the US Constitution, NJ Supreme Court Justice and first Federal District Court Judge for NJ. Born in 1745 in Lawrence Twp, NJ, Brearley played a significant role in shaping the early legal landscape of the United States, from his service in the Continental Army, his role as a signer of the U.S. Constitution and his influential work as Chief Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court.
“The country we know today would not be what it is without the contributions of Mr. Brearley,” stated Donald. “It is my privilege to speak on this revolutionary man with such a deep impact on U.S. history.”
The event is an inaugural fundraising reception for the David Brearley Center for the American Constitution. All funds raised go towards the development of a state-of-the-art historic education facility. Donald Scarinci will be featured as a special guest speaker, discussing the life and achievements of David Brearley. An esteemed attorney and historian, Mr. Scarinci is the author of the acclaimed biography, “David Brearley and the Making of the United States Constitution.” Notably, the book was the first and only biography ever written about Mr. Brearley. Donald’s expertise on Brearley’s life and contributions will provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of this important figure in American history.
The event will be held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Trenton, NJ.
